Staff Development and Training

Government IT staff are continuously updated with new knowledge and techniques through training programmes arranged by the OGCIO Training Unit. Training takes the form of classroom training, various modes of e-learning including web-based training, independent study programmes and skill transfer arrangements made under specific procurement contracts. Participation in computer conferences, visits and attachments to other organisations are sponsored by the OGCIO to keep staff abreast of the latest developments in IT and to give them field experience in relevant state-of-the-art technologies. On average, about 550 courses are organised for 5,300 attendees annually.

In addition to training courses organised by the OGCIO Training Unit, the OGCIO also encourages and sponsors its staff to take professional examinations and pursue continuing education relevant to their duties. Furthermore, workplace learning activities and a variety of learning resources are offered to encourage life-long learning.
