Working Group on Internet2 Development

Terms of Reference

• to deliberate on the direction and development of Internet2 in Hong Kong;

• to facilitate and support the setting up of direct telecommunication network(s) between local universities/organisations and the University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development in the US as well as similar academic research organisations in other places for conducting research projects related to Internet2;

• to examine Internet2 development in other places and facilitate Hong Kong's co-operation with other places in jointly developing Internet2;

• to explore with local universities/organisations seeking funding support and industry sponsorship for conducting research projects related to Internet2;

• to promote pilot and wider use of Internet2 protocol, applications and technologies in education as well as in the community;

• to examine the potential and feasibility of commercialising Internet2 related researches, and projects for market application; and

• to examine the focus area and direction of Internet2 development in Hong Kong.
