SITB-designate to attend IT forum in Shanghai

The Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting-designate, Mrs Carrie Yau, has left for Shanghai today (June 4) to attend the High-Level Forum on City Informatisation in the Asia Pacific Region.
The forum is co-sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme, the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the Ministry of Information Industry of China and the Chinese Academy of Science.
The forum, to be held from June 5 to 7, will be attended by decision makers of the municipal governments from the Asia Pacific Region, international experts on information technology (IT), the information industry and city informatisation, as well as business leaders in the IT industry.
Mrs Yau will address the forum on the topic of "Informatisation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" on June 5 and take part in a Mayor's Round-Table discussion on June 6.
During her stay in Shanghai, she will take the opportunity to exchange views with other participants, including her counterparts in other cities, on the visions, strategic plans and practical experiences in the development of information industry and the applications of IT, and to explore the possibilities of stimulating bilateral and regional co-operation in this regard.
Mrs Yau is accompanied in her trip by Deputy Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting, Mr Alan Siu.
