Appointment to the IIAC announced

The Government today (September 13) announced the appointment to the Information Infrastructure Advisory Committee (IIAC) which had been approved by the Chief Executive.

Established in August 1998, the IIAC is a high-level body to advise Government on the IT and telecommunications development in Hong Kong. Members of the IIAC are appointed by the Chief Executive, and the Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting is the Chairperson of the Committee.

Apart from Government officials, there are 15 non-official members in the IIAC, coming from the business, industrial and academic fields with wide representation. In this appointment exercise, 11 non-official members from the last term were re-appointed and four new members are appointed. The appointment would be for a term up to end July 2002.

The first meeting of the new term of the IIAC will be held on September 29. The following is the full membership list of the new term of the IIAC:
