Free e-commerce forum for small and medium sized enterprises

Local small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) can obtain information and knowledge of how to embark on e-commerce free of charge by joining an e-commerce forum to be held early next month (March).
Organised by the Information Technology Services Department (ITSD), the E-commerce Forum for SMEs is aimed at empowering local SMEs to start engaging in e-commerce.
E-commerce has been widely recognised as a revolutionary mode of trade and is gaining popularity and importance in the business world.
Adopting e-commerce can help businesses reduce operating cost, enhance competitiveness, and overcome geographical and time constraints to enter into new markets for new business opportunities.
Information and knowledge about the adoption of e-commerce and how to select suitable solutions available in the market will be provided in the Forum.
Distinguished speakers from successful organisations and the academia will share with the participants various e-commerce issues and know-how through talks, case studies and discussions.
There will also be demonstrations of e-commerce related services provided by Hong Kong Productivity Council, Hong Kong Article Numbering Association, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Industry Department, Hongkong Post and ITSD.
The E-commerce Forum for SMEs will be held at Room 301, New Wing, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, between 9.30 am and 5 pm on 8 March 2000 (Wednesday).
The Forum, to be conducted mainly in Cantonese, will cover the following programmes:
- Electronic Payment;
- Goods Fulfillment;
- Digital Certificates;
- Goods Replenishment;
- Electronic Storefront;
- Challenges in Transition to E-commerce;
- Selection of E-commerce Products and Services;
- Portal for Clothing and Textile Industry;
- Emerging Techniques in E-commerce; and
- Experience Sharing.
