Forum to promote commercialisation of IT research results
22 - 06 - 2000

A forum to be held next Thursday (29 June 2000) will enable information technology (IT) researchers, industrialists and investment professionals to meet and share views and experience over the commercialisation of IT research results.

The "Tripartite Forum on Commercialisation of IT Research Results 2000", is intended to foster partnership between IT researchers and the business sector.

It provides an opportunity for academics to transform their IT research results into applications with the necessary support from the industry.

Subsequent to the first Tripartite Forum held last June, which was well-received, the Information Technology Services Department, the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation and the Hong Kong Venture Capital Association Limited jointly organised the Forum again this year.

Relevant departments of six local universities - the Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and The University of Hong Kong - also support the Forum.

A total of 14 researches from the six universities, covering topics including data security, e-commerce, multi-media, education and Internet appliance and automation, will be presented in the Forum.

The research projects were selected as they represent some of the most innovative IT developments in Hong Kong.

Academics, IT industry practitioners and investment professionals are invited to participate in the Forum which will be held at Meeting Room 401, Phase I, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, between 2 pm and 5.15 pm on June 29.

Application form can be downloaded from the "Digital 21" web site (http://www.digital21.gov.hk/tripartite.html) where details of the Forum are also available.

The Forum is free of charge and seats will be reserved on a first come, first served basis.
