Appointment to the IIAC announced

The Government today (August 1) announced that the Chief Executive had appointed 5 new members to the Information Infrastructure Advisory Committee (IIAC) and re-appointed 10 incumbent members for the new term. The appointment is for a period of two years, from August 1, 2002 to July 31, 2004.

The Committee will be chaired by Mr Henry Tang, Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology. New members appointed are Ms. Cordelia Chung, Mr. Daniel Lai, Professor Victor Li, Ms. Mary Ma and Mr. Ng Cheung-sing. They are leaders and experts in the IT field.

Established in August 1998, the IIAC advises the Government on issues concerning the development of information technology in Hong Kong. Apart from Government officials, there are 15 non-official members in the IIAC, coming from the IT, telecommunications, business and academic fields.

"We are pleased that the new IIAC is widely represented by leaders and experts in different fields related to IT development. With the expertise and support of the members, the IIAC will continue with its efforts to drive Hong Kong's development as a leading digital city, connecting the world," a Government spokesman said.

The first meeting of the new term of the IIAC will be held in September. The following is the full membership list of the new term of the IIAC:
