Tenders invited for provision of data centre services
22 - 04 - 2005
The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) today (April 22) invited tenders for the provision of hosting services for a number of information systems of government departments.
The selected tender will be required to provide hosting services for 12 information systems belonging to eight government departments. These services are currently being provided by the Central Computer Centre (CCC) of the OGCIO.
The service supplier will provide the computer hardware, system software as well as the operation, management and support services for delivering the hosting services. It must also ensure that its technical solutions address the current and anticipated business processing requirements of the respective government departments.
A spokesman for the OGCIO said that the outsourcing of the CCC operation was one of the major targets of the Government's outsourcing programme under the Digital 21 Strategy published in March 2004.
"Through a vigorous IT outsourcing policy, the Government aims to enlarge the delivery capacity for our IT services, to accelerate the delivery of IT solutions, and to generate more business opportunities for the local IT industry," the spokesman said.
"The outsourcing of the CCC hosting service will improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of hosting services to our departments and achieve savings in annual operating expenditures. It will also help foster the development of the local data centre service industry."
The tender notice was published in the Government Gazette today. The tender document is available for collection at the OGCIO, 15/F, Wanchai Tower, 12 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong. It can also be downloaded from the following website: www.ogcio.gov.hk/eng/tender/etennot.htm.
Tender proposals should be placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box at the lift lobby of the lower ground floor of the Central Government Offices (East Wing), 20 Lower Albert Road (at its junction with Garden Road), Hong Kong, before noon on June 17, 2005. Late tenders will not be accepted.
