Cyberport - Hong Kong's IT Flagship - is a US $2 billion (HK$15.8 billion) landmark project managed by Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited and wholly owned by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The project is being developed on a 24-hectare site at Telegraph Bay in the southern district of Hong Kong Island. It comprises four office buildings, a five-star hotel, a retail entertainment complex and a deluxe residential development, aiming at creating an interactive environment that will be home to a strategic cluster of about 100 IT companies and 10,000 IT professionals. The project is being completed in phases from mid-2002 to 2008.
The commercial portion of Cyberport provides a total of about 95,000 sq. m. Grade A office space for clustering IT companies of different sizes and at different stages of development, specializing in IT applications, information services and multimedia content creation. We believe the clustering of like-minded companies at Cyberport will facilitate exchange of ideas, foster innovative thinking and unleash creative synergy.
The Arcade provides a wide range of retail and entertainment and education facilities as well as a five-star hotel of 173 rooms managed by the Le Meridien Hotel Group.
In addition, the Cyberport supports its tenants' operations through the provision of a state-of-the-art IT/telecoms infrastructure and a wide range of shared facilities. On the former, Cyberport's Internal Private Network (IPN) provides secure and seamless fiber-optic connectivity throughout Cyberport, supporting voice, video and data communication. Also, wireless connectivity is enabled in public areas to ensure communication and information access all over the Cyberport. On the latter, facilities such as Digital Media Centre, Hong Kong Wireless Development Centre, iResource Centre, Xbox Games Incubation Centre, various conferencing, training and exhibition facilities are available in the Cyberport. The University of Hong Kong, in co-operation with some major IT/Telecom companies, has also set up a "Cyberport Institute" at the Cyberport to run market-driven courses to groom talents for the industry. The readiness and accessibility of all these will no doubt enable IT/Telecom companies at Cyberport to reduce their operating costs and implement their business plans effectively with a view to forging ahead in the stiff global competition.
Many IT companies wish to establish their bases at the Cyberport. Since the commencement of the process for admission of Cyberport tenants, Cyberport has received many applications from multinational, overseas and local companies. Also, many companies have signed lease agreements and moved into the Cyberport.
We are committed to making Cyberport a success by working closely with all like-minded companies in the industry. For more information on the project and on how to apply for office tenancy at Cyberport, please visit http://www.cyberport.hk.
