e-Government Infrastructure Service

With the objective to facilitate government bureaux and departments to sustain e-Government initiatives, we have established a common infrastructure platform, code name e-Government Infrastructure Service or EGIS in 2004, for the shared benefit of all government users to develop and deploy next generation citizen-centric joined-up e-Government services.

The EGIS offers innovative centrally-managed infrastructure service to complement the existing central IT infrastructure of the Government through a handy service platform for Government-to-Citizen (G2C) and Government-to-Business (G2B) transactions. It obviates the need for individual government bureaux and departments to build their in-house infrastructure facilities and thereby reduce the development lead time of their new electronic public services.

The EGIS includes two key platform components, namely Shared Platform for Internet Content and Applications (SPICA) and Shared COmmon Platform for Electronic Services (SCOPES).

Shared Platform for Internet Content and Applications

SPICA is a centrally-managed Internet infrastructure implemented with necessary service to provide a reliable and secure web application hosting platform for shared use by projects of government bureaux and departments.

Shared COmmon Platform for Electronic Services

SCOPES offers a standards-based common application infrastructure service platform for shared use by government bureaux and departments to exchange application messages between government IT systems as well as with external businesses.
