As one of the major building blocks of the Government Backbone Network, the Central Internet Gateway (CIG) System enables government bureaux and departments to gain access to the Internet, disseminate information, and communicate and transact business with the public over the Internet through a secure and centrally managed gateway.

The CIG System provides central management and administration of government Internet web sites, and Internet mail and access services for all government bureaux and departments.
