A central co-ordination role has been taken up by the OGCIO on the use of digital certificates in Government in the following areas :
Promotion on the use of digital certificates in government;
Survey of the need for digital certificates in bureaux and departments;
Arrangement with recognized certification authorities on procedures regarding the application for digital certificates;
Liaison with the recognized certification authorities about Government's requirements on digital certificates and CA services, and compatibility and interoperability issues; and
Provision of advisory support to bureaux and departments on the use and handling of digital certificates.
