Tender for supply of IT professional services to Government

The Information Technology Services Department (ITSD) today
(September 7) invited submissions to the tender for the provision
of information technology (IT) professional services to government
departments.
Contractors will be selected to provide IT professional services
to government departments for a 30-month contract period.
Up to 26 contracts will be awarded in four categories of services,
namely general system development and maintenance, web publishing,
office systems and network implementation, and IT security services.
These IT professional service contracts are non-exclusive and
government departments can acquire professional services to
undertake IT projects through other means under government procurement
regulations.
"This tender is part of the Government's IT outsourcing strategy
to enlarge the capacity for IT service delivery and to accelerate
the delivery of IT solutions," said a spokesman for the ITSD
today.
"The strategy also meets our objective of creating a market
of sufficient size to encourage the further development of the
IT industry locally," the spokesman added.
He also noted that the Government is committed to maintaining
a fair and open tendering system and the principle of fair competition
which is the best guarantee for getting the best value for money.
"All tenders will be evaluated on an equal basis, and tenders
that offer the best value for money to the Government will be
accepted," he said.
"Tender proposals will be evaluated against the pre-determined
evaluation criteria and marking scheme as stated in the tender
document."
Information on the tender is now available in the Government
of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Gazette published
today and will also be available in that to be published on
September 14, 2001.
The Tender document can be obtained from the office of ITSD
at 11/F, Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong,
or on request by electronic mail to itpsa@itsd.gov.hk.

Tender proposals should be placed in the Government Secretariat
Tender Box situated in the lift lobby on the lower ground floor
of the Central Government Offices (East Wing), 20 Lower Albert
Road, Hong Kong, before noon of October 19, 2001.
