Expert Group on Cloud Computing Services and Standards (EGCCSS)

Terms of Reference
The objectives of the Expert Group on Cloud Computing Services and Standards are to draw expertise from the industry, academia, community and Government to facilitate and drive cloud computing adoption and deployment in Hong Kong, as well as facilitate expert exchanges among cloud experts both within Hong Kong and with the Mainland. The Terms of Reference for the EGCCSS are to:
- Advise on industry facilitation measures to promote adoption and development of common services, standards and best practices on cloud services definition, interoperability, standardisation, information security, data privacy, services provision and management, contracting practices, service level agreement, and any other issues and concerns for necessary attention by cloud services consumers and providers in Hong Kong;
- Advise on the development of interoperability standards and facilitate local adoption of standards that will be applicable to cloud service delivery and implementation;
- Facilitate the local industry on the development of data protection and cloud security solutions; and support the adoption of security and privacy guidelines and best practices;
- Promote the local awareness on cloud computing and advise on potential use case;
- Advise on service management practices that are applicable to cloud computing services to ensure the reliability and security of cloud service delivery;
- Share information and promote cooperation among ICT industry organisations to facilitate the introduction of advanced and emerging technologies and services on cloud computing;
- Collaborate with the governmental and standardisation organisations on the Mainland to contribute to the development of cloud standards;
- Participate in relevant cloud standardisation efforts initiated by international organisations and identify collaboration opportunities for the industry and Government to access, contribute to and, influence such standardisation efforts;
- Identify and recommend research and development projects that warrant financial support through funding schemes such as the Innovation and Technology Fund; and
- Identify and recommend training scopes to nurture the development of cloud professionals with a view to positioning Hong Kong as a source of experts in relevant domains in cloud computing.
