Our Hong Kong IT Industry

Hong Kong has a world-class Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure and an open, competitive and safe environment that is conducive to the development of a vibrant ICT industry. With some 17 249 business establishments, the ICT sector generated business receipts and income amounting to HK$1,547 billion, representing 6.2% of our GDP as of 2020.

	Hong Kong IT Manpower – The labour market in the IT sector of Hong Kong keeps steady growth with total IT employment rose to 95 780 IT employees in April 2018. Read more about Hong Kong IT Manpower.
	Competence of IT Professionals – Under the Qualifications Framework (QF), the ICT Industry Training Advisory Committee (ITAC) was formed in July 2005 to draw up IT industry’s competency requirements and standards. Read more about Competence of IT Professionals.
	IT Career – The IT profession offers broad and promising career paths such as business analyst, project manager, IT architect, IT security auditor, as well as starting up his/her own business. Read more about IT Career.
	ICT Professional Development and Recognition – A task force was set up to examine the case of establishing a framework for ICT professional recognition in Hong Kong so as to enhance the portfolio of ICT professional qualifications.
