Hour of Code

2015.01 - Present

Hour of Code offers an opportunity for students to try computer science for one hour. It originates in the US and is organised by Code.org which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to expand computer science education. In one week in December 2013, 15 million students tried an hour of code using the online resources available on www.hourofcode.com. Since 2014 December, CityU Apps Lab of the City University of Hong Kong started the "Hour of Code" Hong Kong campaign to offer coding workshops for the public to kick off their first hour of coding. Starting from January 2015, full-day "Hour of Code" workshops on Scratch, App Inventor 2, JavaScript and Python are offered to students for free on the last Sunday of each month.

Coding is an invaluable 21st century skill for students to learn. Learning to code fosters the ability for students to think creatively and logically to figure out how to solve problems. Even students who have no desire to make a career of computer programming benefit a lot from their lessons on coding. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn coding.
