Introductory Seminar on IT Career Role Models Platform

The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) officially launched the IT Career Role Models Platform as part of the “IT - You Study, We Hire!” Campaign on 17 November 2017 to provide up-to-date information on information technology (IT) job positions, a clear outline of the career progression path and potential job prospects of the IT profession in local and multinational companies/enterprises of different industry sectors.

In order to encourage youngsters who were interested in engaging in the IT industry to make study/career decisions in accordance with their interests, abilities and orientations and to capture the opportunities of global mega trend of adopting innovation and technology, the OGCIO organised the Introductory Seminar on IT Career Role Models Platform at the Lecture Hall of Hong Kong Museum of History on 23 November 2017. Career masters of secondary schools, representatives of student career units of tertiary institutes, and students and teachers who were interested in the IT industry were invited to attend the seminar. In the seminar, the IT Career Role Models Platform was introduced, and the bright prospects and up-to-date information of an IT career were shared.

Mr Tony Wong, Assistant Government Chief Information Officer (Industry Development) introduced the IT Career Role Models Platform to audience and delivered a speech on the prospects, technology trends of and the promotion policies for today’s IT industry in the seminar. In addition, the OGCIO also invited representatives from well-known corporations of different industry sectors such as Microsoft HK Ltd, Hospital Authority, JP Morgan and Alibaba.com Hong Kong, to give presentations on the IT professional development of their respective sectors, share their views on the prospects of IT career and talk about different industries’ strong demand for IT talents.
