In accordance with section 31(1) of the Electronic Transactions Ordinance (Cap. 553) ("Ordinance"), the Government Chief Information Officer must maintain for each recognized certification authority ("CA") an on-line and publicly accessible record.
- The then Director of Information Technology Services (the "then Director") granted recognition to HiTRUST.COM (HK) Incorporated Limited as a recognized CA under Section 21 of the Ordinance on 29 April 2002. HiTRUST.COM (HK) Incorporated Limited commenced operation as a recognized CA on 29 April 2002.
- The Government Chief Information Officer ("GCIO") renewed the recognition of HiTRUST.COM (HK) Incorporated Limited as a recognized CA under Section 27 of the Ordinance on 24 April 2006.
- The current recognition is valid from 29 April 2006 to 28 April 2008 or until this recognition is revoked or suspended whichever is earlier.
- On 9 January 2007, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer received from HiTRUST.COM (HK) Incorporated Limited a letter which informed, among others, that HiTRUST.COM (HK) Incorporated Limited would withdraw from the voluntary scheme to be a recognized CA and this would take effect on 29 April 2007.
On 11 January 2007, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer was informed by HiTRUST.COM (HK) Incorporated Limited, among others, that since HiTRUST.COM (HK) Incorporated Limited has triggered its recognized CA Termination Plan, further annual assessment and renewal activities would be held up.
On 10 April 2007, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer was informed by HiTRUST.COM (HK) Incorporated Limited that:
(a) recognized certificates issued by HiTRUST.COM (HK) Incorporated Limited that would remain valid on 28 April 2007 would be revoked on that date; and (b) its repository containing information relevant to the revoked recognized certificates would remain available to allow access by the general public for not less than 7 years. On 22 April 2007, pursuant to section 23(4) of the Ordinance, the GCIO made the decision to revoke the following recognitions:
(a) the recognition of HiTRUST.COM (HK) Incorporated Limited as a recognized CA renewed under section 27 of the Ordinance (Certificate Number: OGCIO-CA-2006-01); and (b) the recognition of the following recognized certificates:
- HiTRUST.COM (HK) Recognized Root CA certificate
- HiCert-L3 CA certificate
- HiCert-Organization CA certificate
- HiCert-L3 certificate
- HiCert-Organization certificate
Pursuant to section 23(6) of the Ordinance, revocation of the above recognitions took effect on 29 April 2007. - Contact Details -
